Between 13-16 May 2024, we organized an online training on virtual reality (VR) and rapid prototyping (RP) under the Erasmus+ Youth project titled “Innovative Integration Between Virtual Reality and Rapid Prototyping for Youth (VRP4Youth)” coordinated by Gazi University with the participation of 5 organizations from Italy, Sweden, Portugal and Turkey.
The aim of the four-day training program, which was attended by young people from Turkey, Sweden, Italy, and Portugal, was to improve the skills of young unemployed people on new-generation technologies. The training program was aimed at young people to acquire skills that they could not acquire in formal education processes and to use VR and RP technologies in an integrated manner in design and production processes. Within this framework, a total of 16 hours of intensive training were provided over four days.
On the first day of the training, Godesk S.R.L from Italy made a presentation titled “Introduction to VR and RP”, while the Union of Academics from Turkey discussed “VR Applications”. On the second day, Instituto Politecnico Do Porto (ISCAP) from Portugal presented “VR Equipment and Application”, on the third day KTH Royal Institute of Technology from Sweden presented “Rapid Prototyping and Current Technology”, and on the last day Gazi University from Turkey presented “VR Integrated RP”, providing in-depth information on the integrated use of VR and RP technologies.
During the training, participants learned how to integrate VR and RP technologies into design and production processes. They worked on real-world scenarios involving the use of virtual reality glasses, rapid prototyping machines and other related equipment. Case studies on the integrated use of these two technologies were emphasized.
We would like to thank the participants and the trainers.
